Silver Dollar Coin Ring
I personally handcraft these rings from genuine U.S. Morgan silver dollar coins. The Morgan dollar was made using 90% pure silver and minted from 1878 to 1904, and then again in 1921.
This is a large coin and it makes a nice, heavy, large ring. I can form this ring with either "heads" or "tails" out and they look best when made, size 10 to 14.
Please specify "Heads" or "Tails" out in the "instructions to seller" box at check out
I have several Morgan dollars on hand and get more periodically. Usually the later dates (ie. 1921) are more pristine and have little or no wear. The earlier dates (ie. 1880s) generally have some nicks or scrapes that add to the character of the coin.
Imagine wearing a ring made from a coin that has been around that long, what might it have been used to buy and who might have had it in their pocket?
In 1878, Thomas Edison, patented the phonograph and in 1879, he demonstrated incandescent lighting to the public for the first time in Menlo Park, New Jersey.
The gunfight at the O.K. Coral in Tombstone, Arizona took place on October 26, 1881.
In 1883 "Buffalo Bill" Cody stages the first Wild West Show at the Omaha fairgrounds. Maybe this coin was used to secure admission to the show!
If you would like an older coin, or a specific date, please let me know and I will see what I can do.
